The invention or discovery of fire, electricity, or the internet, are good examples of advancements that greatly propelled human change.

We are at the beginning of, what I think, is a revolution that will be bigger than any other revolution from the past.. catalyzing humanity change with unprecedented speed and depth.

Since the beginning of mankind, humans needed to tell machines very precisely: what to do, how to do it, and when to do it (I know this very well because I was a software analyst).



Well... those times are over.



With artificial intelligences, you just tell them the desired goal.. and they start to figure it out by themselves, finding patterns and forming their own criteria as to how to do it. Pretty much like we, humans, learn.


So this is the first time in history where our scientists understand how machines learn.. but don’t understand the inner criteria that they develop.


So far, they are not just becoming surprisingly good at solving problems, it also seems they can tackle almost anything: voice synthesis, cancer detection, self driving cars, wealth redistribution... even content creation (text, images, videos, and yes, music too).


There is a program that, after being fed with all the text of the internet (arguably all human knowledge), can maintain a coherent conversation about any topic. Almost looking as if it has consciousness.


And with this, at least one interesting question arises: if outside of yourself, you have no way to prove that other people are actually conscious.. is there really a difference between being conscious, and very convincingly seeming it?


Another possibility I can imagine, is feeding that same program with the texts of any dead philosopher instead.. and ask it new questions. While we know it won't be the philosopher answers, the aproximated answers could still shed some interesting new light on modern subjects.



But this is just the beginning. You could train it with all the medical knowledge, and have a virtual doctor that accurately diagnose thousands of people at the same time. Nothing stops you from creating with the same technique, a lawyer or psychiatrist, that can handle thousands of cases or therapies.


As you can see, this will have a profound impact on the worlds job market and society itself. Maybe we will chose not to use it.. but this technology (which some experts predicted to exist in 200-400 years).. is already here.


Finally, if a machine can show all this capabilities, we should ask ourselves: what IS intelligence? what IS consciousness? what really IS creativity?



Maybe all our definitions are wrong.



This EP is a wake up call to all humans, that are unaware of all this, and in this life time will see their lives and the world completely changed.


Now roll a joint, turn up the volume… and enjoy the music ! It was made with great love, patience and dedication :)
